fresh squeezed OJ and egg sammies in Roma. good morning!
After Vicenza Rachel and I flew down to Roma for a few days and wandered around the cobbled streets, layed in meadows, made delicious breakfasts and saw lots of churches. Oh! and saw Rafael Nadal in St. Peter’s Square!! I also met up with my dear friend Martina who is studying in Rome to be an interpreter. I hadn’t seen her for 3 years!
Rome is so beautiful, so old, so easy to get lost in.
My Zia Lidia made homemade gnocchi for Rach and I. Zia Lidia is my favorite aunt. A wonderful woman with the kindest heart and warmest soul. I love sitting with her and listening to all her stories from when she was a young girl living in Italy during the war and she constantly insists on feeding me Italian sweets and pasta she bakes. No complaints but lots of weight gain.
Her gnocchi are little pillows of heaven on earth.
I flew to Vicenza, Italy after Valencia to visit my family and friends in the green northern town. Lots of pizza eating with cousins and walking around. Rachel flew in 2 days later from Scotland. Even though she missed the train stop for the little town outside of Vicenza where my apartment was, my friend Luca and I went to pick her up a half hour down the road and we made homemade pasta and drank lots of sweet prosecco.
Last night in Valencia with my best friendz Roxy and Alayna. We went to our favorite mojito bar <rose mojitos !!> and sandwich place <egg, cream cheese, sun dried tomatos and salmon on crispy multigrain bread>. I miss these gals so much and they made my time in Spain so so wonderful.
This lil gal sat across from me every day as we ate our rice that Rosa, my host mom made for lunch. She’s the cutest little brat in Spain.
Homeward Bound (1993)
SHADOW
Best movie ever. I always thought the cowgirl pet-sitter looked like Kim Cattrall.

Best Paella on the beach. My friends and I all shared a last Valencian paella for a while. We went to this amazing restaurant right on the white sandy beach and ordered a huge shrimp and crab paella. We ate the whole thing and lounged on the beach afterwards. It was a lovely and relaxing Tuesday afternoon.
Llaollao is the BEST froyo in the world. 2.50 euros for a pequeño natural with dulce de leche and if I’m feeling extra sweet, for 50 cents more I add some strawberries. OMG so so so so good and fresh.
